February 3, 2018 I was celebrating my 38th Birthday.  I had just finished airing an amazing 2nd show at 95.7 The Boss.

My Co-Host, Safoya Ali, My manager Dee King (at the time) my promoter, John Doe, were extremely pumped and excited!  Our 2nd show in hit a 6k rating!  Our guest callers that night were, Ceasar Knickson, (author) Billy Batts, (R&B artist) Dyon

Brooks, (Internet Comedian) we had an absolute amazing show.  On top of it being my birthday, my manager and promoter decided to take me out to celebrate my birthday and the success that the show was already accumulating!  They asked where I wanted to go, and I responded, #THEHIVE.

Excited and stoked we arrived at the club.  Immediately we were turned away by the bouncer, with no rhyme or reason.  Dee and John didn't question it, they just started to walk away, begging me not to make a scene!?  FUCK THAT!!  I demanded an explanation!  (Dee & John are black) the bouncer responded, "your all to intoxicated,"  I responded, BULLSHIT!  Keep in mind Dee goes through dialysis 3 times a week, and John just wasn't a drinker, neither one of them frequented the club scene to begin with, they were basically there to babysit and celebrate with me.  I stood there attempting to argue with the bouncer at the door, however he chose to ignore me, as I continually claimed that this was purely racism at it's finest.  I continued to make a scene in front of the many ongoers, many white people ignoring me. A young light skinned black man approached the club, the bouncer shook his hand, gave him a hug, allowing the bouncer to save face.  Keep in mind the scene I created, would have most clubs calling the authoruties on me!  I simply walked away, realizing in that moment, that RACISM DOES STILL EXIST!  I broke down crying, realizing what black culture had to endure.  I was devastated to witness it!

Over the course of a year it still bothered me off and on to rethink of that night, every birthday is a reminder of that night.  So I sat down and wrote this piece, inspired by THE HIVE CLUB/BAR

Video was released July 2, 2020 shortly after the George Floyd incident, and the BLM protests began.  However the poem was released last year on facebook.

I was in Las Vegas when I wrote that.  I had returned home fall of last year.  I had started working for a shit hole place, when I met Jake Gardner after work one evening.  I had no idea who he was.  I just happened to be sitting next to him at the bar, when I heard someone mention who he was!  My blood started to boil.  I looked over and said,  

" YOUR THE FUCKIN OWNER OF THE HIVE BAR?"  HE RESPONDED, "YES MAAM,"  smugly, almost as if he thought I was going to start hitting on him or something. I SAID "IVE GOT A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU!".  Still smug as fuck, he awaits my response.  I said do you teach all your bouncers racism, or is it a requirement upon employment?  His smug look disapated quickly, knowing people were listening.  His response wasn't that of a shocked club owner, instead of asking for names, dates, etc. He immediately went into defense mode claiming he don't believe me, his club nor his employees were racist, they " LET BLACK PEOPLE IN HIS CLUB ALL THE TIME!". Unless they didn't follow dress code or were inebriated!  I go on to explain my particular situation, Jake still continued to defend his club, and his employees.  He never offered an apology, or to investigate the situation, he did nothing as a business owner, to rectify my racist allegation!  He then turned around, continued to drink his beer, and act like I didn't exist.  Right before I left I walked over to him and I simply said karma's a real bitch you know?  I said one day, being racist will haunt you!  I left without him saying anything more.

I headed back to Las Vegas in January of this year.  However I came back to visit family in July, shortly after the BLM protest had begun.  I happen to be staying at a hotel, where a gentlemen had informed me that a club owner, had just shot and killed a black man during the midst of the BLM protest.  I knew in my gut what club owner that was, so I responded please don't tell me it was the owner of #THEHIVE?  The gentleman responded you must have seen the news reports, yes it was that mother fucker that did it!  My head sank!  I then asked the gentleman, if he was he charged for murder, he said yes, but he believed the charge had been dropped, because Jake Gardner had proclaimed self-defense.  The young gentleman I was speaking to was clearly devastated, as 3/4 of a bottle of Jack was gone, and he would intermittently cry, divulging the story to me.  I did not know who this gentleman was, but did not know who he was to the victim, all I knew was the hurt that was on his face and in his eyes.  I myself was pretty devastated and furious!

I returned back home to Las Vegas a week later, thinking another white man got away with a racist act.  

 Last night around 10:00 p.m. I came across an article, that stated Jake Gardner had committed suicide!  I immediately started questioning my own personal beliefs. Thinking was it really self-defense, did he feel awful about killing this black gentleman? How stupid of me to assume the worst, maybe it was just the bouncer that was racist!  I then continued reading the article, to realize he was indicted, he needed to return home and turn himself in, he was receiving death threats as well.  He didn't believe that he would receive a fair trial!?!?  Jake didn't exemplify any remorse for the gentlemen he killed!  Whether or not in self

0 defense or not. Any normal human being, would be affected that they had just killed another living breathing human!!

IN MY OPINION ~ JAKE GARDNER ENDED HIS LIFE, BECAUSE HE KNEW HE WAS GOING TO DO TIME IN PRISON.   HE ALSO KNEW THAT IF HE DIDN'T GET TIME IN PRISON, THAT SOMEBODY WAS PROBABLY GONNA TAKE HIM OUT!  

CLEARLY OTHERS KNEW OF JAKES RACIST WAYS!  BLACK PEOPLE, NOR WHITE PEOPLE PLACE THREATS TO KILL, IF THEY TRULY BELIEVED IT WAS IN SELF DEFENSE!

Based on what the young gentleman had told me at the hotel I was under the impression that Jake Gardner was in fact off scott free of the crime.  I never ever for one second thought that he would kill himself, nor did I wish death upon him.  However my statement of, " ONE DAY RACISM WILL HAUNT YOU!". I do believe finally caught up to him!
